Metropolitan Museum of Art (“The Met”)

Holding a permanent collection of over two million works, the MET is always bustling with people. The massive Beaux-Arts structure entails modernity and translucency in its interior with instances of vast skylights and tall spaces. The photo is taken in the light-filled sculpture room, with the back of Rodin’s “Ugolino and his sons” in the foreground.

At the building’s rooftop was a temporary exhibition, “Cloud City” by Tomas Saraceno. Using reflective material, he construes geometries and creates an interactive sculpture that you can climb up to. Among the many times that my decision to bring one pair of sandals to the 3 month trip has backfired on me, this was definitely one of them since I had to go buy new shoes to go on top.
