Shoreline Architecture Cruise

Chicago, Illinois

Chicago, the home of the skyscrapers, has been the opportunistic testing ground for modern architects, including Frank Lloyd Wright, Mies van der Rohe, and Louis Sullivan. Following the Great Chicago Fire in ’71 that destroyed nearly the entire city, Chicago held the world-wide Chicago Expedition, welcoming a healthy competition of innovative ideas and rebuilding the city with new methods of structural engineering and architectural language. The city still carries its legacy and pride in its built structures. As a city that is developed along the River, the Architecture boat cruise took us along the important historical as well as contemporary buildings.
