#113. Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church (1956)
Milwaukee, Wisconsin

We were denied entrance into the building by the office person. The church only offers tours with a group of 15, and is open to public on Greek holidays. (a) We were very lucky when the janitor briefly let us into the building. The concrete dome is supported by thousands of steel spheres to withstand extreme temperature changes. The monolithic concrete dome makes the space larger than it is. Although it is built in closer date with the Unitarian Church and Beth Sholom Synagogue, the organization of the sanctuary bears similarities to Unity Temple where the audience nearly surrounds the altar, seated on both sides and across (first and second story). (b) Beallutiful eyelid shaped stained glass windows encircle the outer walls. (c)
