Stephen M. B. Hunt Residence I (1907)
La Grange, Illinois
At the turn of the century, transformations in Wright’s compositions become more apparent. In comparison to the couple previous houses built around 1890’s, there are less basic geometric shapes and in its place, horizontality is accentuated with overhanging eaves, long rows of windowpanes, horizontal banding, and cantilevered carport. He applies vertical rectangular banding on the sides of the window panes to accentuate the horizontality by contrast.
