O.B. Balch Residence (1911)
Oak Park, Illinois
After our first Oak Park tour, we realized that we had missed quite a few houses and took the time to drive by them. Symmetry is apparent in its street facade, but without the entrance door at the center.Through the progression of his career, Wright continually strives to make the roof appear to be floating, with the use of deep cantilevers and by placing windows right beneath the soffit. Although the frames are still quite thick, his motive of corner glass with diminishing the corners is apparent here.
