Henry J. Allen-Lambe Residence (1915)
The house claims to be the last of the prairie-style houses. The expansive red tile roofline shows a Japanese influence and the concrete cube supports sitting above the brick piers are possibly early signs of Wright’s thoughts on concrete blocks. The living space opens up to a patio and its perimeters are outlined with red concrete tiles. A couple steps below the red tiles is a concrete courtyard surrounded by vegetation, with its centerpiece being the large coy fish pool and a fountain. Wright experiments with spherical concrete planters with plants spilling out.
